UNESCO Iraq

Project: The Gendered Approach to Prevention of Violent Extremism through Education project is a response to Government of Iraq’s request for technical support in addressing aims as outlined in the Recovery and Resilience Program, Supporting Prevention of Violent Extremism Framework.

Building on the successful pilots implemented by UNESCO in coordination with the Ministry of Education and funding from the Governments of Japan and Netherlands, the project aims to build resilient communities by strengthening the capacities of school actors in 250 schools in AI Anbar and Ninewa Governorates.

Visuals

Keeping cultural sensitivities in mind, we followed a simple monochrome illustration style with inclusive visuals and messaging.

Our visuals highlighted the importance of having an open conversation, being empathetic, asking questions and listening to others, which was depicted visually through round eyes, round faces, showing non-extreme emotions without triggering people.
